Preparing for Inclusive 教学 研讨会系列

Through the frameworks of Culturally Responsive 教学 (CRT) and Universal Design for 学习 (UDL) this series will prepare you to embrace an inclusive teaching practice. You will begin the personal work of interrogating your personal identities and (re)consider syllabus design and teaching through an inclusive lens. You will leave this series with practical tools and a plan for continuing your personal work in equity and inclusion and sustaining your inclusive teaching practice. 

We recommend that you attend the 探索股权 & Inclusion 基金会 before completing the teaching specific sessions. 

探索股权 & Inclusion 基金会*

This workshop is part of UNC’s Faculty & 工作人员 UNITE program and will provide the foundation for you to begin developing an inclusive teaching practice. 在这 session you will obtain an overview of equity and inclusion by exploring social identities and understanding current social issues through interactive content that assists participants in the creation of a plan on how to exercise their agency and power as an individual and in collective actions.

Supporting Student Success with an Equity-Minded 教学大纲

The syllabus is often the first point of contact that our students have with us and 我们的课程. In this hands-on workshop, you will be taken through a step-by-step process that will allow you to reconsider your syllabus as a tool to support equity and inclusion. You will leave the workshop with an equity-minded syllabus that promotes student motivation and academic success.

解构 Dominant Cultures in the Classroom

在这 session we will discuss the importance of representation in y我们的课程s. Who is represented through y我们的课程 materials, readings, and images? 你怎么样? provide opportunities for all students to bring their own experiences into the classroom? How do students interact and engage with each other? You will review and critique your own course materials and develop a practical and doable redesign plan.

设计公平: Embracing Universal Design for 学习

Universal Design for 学习 (UDL) is often considered just about accommodation for students with disabilities. But it is so much more than that, and crucial for creating a course that supports all students. 在这 session we will discuss the UDL Framework and how incorporating the UDL Framework supports equity for all. Through case studies, discussion, and hands-on work with your own course you will determine where in your course the UDL Framework can help you to best support students.
